The Town of Kwinana is spread across 120 square kilometres and is comprised of 15 suburbs. We are going to take a look at one of the newer suburbs in the Town – Wellard.

Since the first major land release over 5 years ago, Wellard has been a popular destination for home buyers. The main attraction is the railway station centrally located within the village. The railway station offers residents easy access to both Perth and Mandurah.

As well as excellent public transport facilities there are big plans for the Village at Wellard. The first stage of this project has commenced with the building of a community centre which is scheduled for completion at the end of this year. Over time, the village centre will have cafes, a local supermarket, medical services and a child care centre. Also established within the suburb is the private school Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. This low-fee Anglican school offers Kindergarten to Year 12 and is already proving to be a drawcard for many beyond the boundaries of the Town of Kwinana.

Nestled amongst the village will be a huge 30 hectares of landscaped parks, including 17 hectares of native bush and 10 hectares of wetlands. Already established is a senior sporting oval with a community pavilion. Within the boundaries of the oval there is outdoor exercise equipment and a stream that feeds into a landscaped pond with fish and ducks. The outdoor activities will be further enhanced with the introduction of the Calico, an interactive fitness program that encourages participants to move between totems located throughout the suburb.

Wellard is a vibrant and growing suburb and will continue to be an attractive destination for families. This growing community is certainly one to keep an eye on as the development continues to forge ahead.
